Fruit of a hundred year old bonsai tree
A perfect pomegranate hangs from one of her fragile limbs
Her branches look like the wizened arms of the very old
Yet her gnarled trunk sits solidly in the earth
Whence her deceptive vitality?
Like other wise oldsters she knows that
Fulfillment is renewal
Endnote: I recently took this photo at Longwood Gardens. The little tree dates from 1907.
